My name is Jory Dayne. I was born in Utah, but grew up in Arizona, subsequently pulling stints in Germany, Hawaii, and Idaho — finally settling in Salt Lake City. In addition to my freelance practice, I've been working as the Lead Designer in Marketing & Communications at Utah Valley University for the last three years.
I have spent the majority of my career designing for print and creating dynamic, comprehensive marketing campaigns, answering to both a client base consisting of some of the most influential leaders in the state, with an audience of insatiable, progressive young adults.
I prefer working for good people who answer to their audience. Professionally, my primary interests are community stewardship, sustainable living, and social justice; my secondary, personal interests are blackletter, Hermetic esoterica, and '80s cartoons. If you're a client whose potential project involves all six: call me, I will probably work with you for free.
My freelance studio consists of myself, the talented guns from The Forecastle, and a small, bossy dachshund named Hexl. I am currently available for hire on projects both large and small.

"Jory did such an amazing job. I asked if he would be interested in illustrating me… I couldn't have envisioned
this better."

This is a personal website, operated by me, Jory Dayne. The opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone, and probably do not represent the views of any of my various employers. It has been in continual existence since November of 2001 — the archives have long since become closed stacks, but if you're looking for something in particular, let me know.
For this iteration, I was inspired by the hand-tuned finesse of sites like Aegir Hallmundur's Ministry of Type, and Jason Santa Maria's eponymous tour de force.

In addition to this blog, I curate a sprawling site of arcane monochromatic artwork, called The Major Arcana. So, if you're a fan of exquisite, recondite imagery, various dread sigils, and the occasional spot of kitsch, I'd suggest you check it out. You'll find all entries cited with original authorship and their corresponding source links.

And in addition to that I contribute to a Utah food blog called The Noble Beasts. It's a collective blog exploring our experiences eating locally, cooking and making, and striving to be responsible food consumers… all while trying not develop monstrous chips on our shoulders, or becoming those people. It's good fun.
a note on communication
I've made myself available via email, twitter, or by phone, so feel free to drop me a line regarding just about anything. However, I'm a big fan of signal over noise, so why don't we just keep our Facebooks and our Linkedins to ourselves?

I've got my detritus strung from one end of the web to the other. Stalkers, take note.
